Congressman Sorensen Statement in Response to the State of the Union Address

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) released the following statement in response to President Trump’s State of the Union address:
“Tonight, Trump delivered a speech that failed to address the real challenges that our nation is facing. Ask working families, small business owners, and farmers and they’ll tell you that costs are too high, Trump’s tariff scheme is destroying economic opportunity, and workers just can’t get ahead. They’ll tell you that our neighbors are scared to go to work, school, and the doctor’s office because of ICE,” said Congressman Sorensen. “My neighbors in Central and Northwest Illinois elected me to fight for them and provide real results. No matter what partisan games people in Washington try to play, I will always remain laser focused on making life easier for the hardworking people I serve.”
Congressman Eric Sorensen represents Illinois’ 17th District in the United States House of Representatives. Prior to serving in Congress, Sorensen was a local meteorologist in Rockford and the Quad Cities for more than 20 years. His district includes Illinois’ Quad Cities, Rockford, Peoria, and Bloomington-Normal.
