Sorensen to Host Town Hall with Local Mayors

WASHINGTON, DC – On Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 6:30 PM CT, Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) will host a town hall with residents of Illinois’ 17th Congressional District. Constituents will be allowed to participate over the phone, and a recording of the event will be made available afterward.  

Sorensen has invited Mayor Jodi Miller of Freeport, Mayor Rita Ali of Peoria, and Mayor Mike Bartels of Coal Valley to announce tax dollars that Sorensen secured for their respective communities to provide clean drinking water, support our veterans, build more housing, repair broken infrastructure, and more.

Details of the telephone town hall are as follows:

Wednesday, July 10, 2024, 6:30 – 7:30 PM CT 

 HOW:  

 To participate in Congressman Sorensen’s town hall with the local mayors, dial 833-380-0743 at any point during the event. 

RSVP:  

 RSVP: Constituents can RSVP and ensure they receive a call to join the town hall by filling out the following form(link is external). Participants must RSVP at least one hour in advance to receive a call. 

During the call, Sorensen will speak directly to residents of Central and Northwestern Illinois about the bipartisan work he is doing in Congress to serve his neighbors. In addition, Sorensen will address issues his constituents care about most, including creating sustainable, good-paying jobs, making communities safer and healthier, and lowering costs for families.  

The telephone town hall format will allow Congressman Sorensen to be more accessible to his nearly 750,000 constituents spread out over 14 counties and 6,933 square miles. 

Congressman Eric Sorensen serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. Prior to serving in Congress, Sorensen was a local meteorologist in Rockford and the Quad Cities for nearly 20 years. His district includes Illinois’ Quad Cities, Rockford, Peoria, and Bloomington-Normal.
