Congressman Sorensen Releases Statement Ahead of Vote on Government Funding Bill

Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) released the following statement ahead of a vote this evening on a government funding bill that does nothing to address skyrocketing health care costs.

“Since the beginning of my tenure serving you in Washington, I’ve fought for bipartisan solutions to lower costs for my neighbors,” said Congressman Sorensen. “For two months, Congressional Republicans have failed to bring anyone together to find solutions. All the while, they were yanking money from the pockets of people trying to feed their families, forcing people to work without pay, and firing many more. I cannot in good faith support a funding bill that doesn’t make the lives of my neighbors more affordable as they struggle with the high cost of Trump’s tariffs. Will we see a plan from Congressional Republicans to lower costs tomorrow? Don’t hold your breath. Speaker Johnson is sending legislators home for another four-day weekend.”
