Sorensen Announces Available Funding for Local Infrastructure Investments

WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) announced federal funding from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) is available for distressed areas in Central and Northwestern Illinois. Grant awards will be used to help communities build the infrastructure needed to create jobs, support businesses, and become more economically competitive. 

“For our communities to create good-paying, sustainable jobs, they need the infrastructure and public works resources to support development,” said Sorensen. “I will always work with community partners to direct funding opportunities like these back to our region so we can uplift communities that have been left behind.” 

Funding comes from the EDA’s FY 2023 Public Works and Economic Adjustment Assistance Program. The grants are available to city, county, and state governments, as well as other public and non-profit organizations.
