Sorensen Announces Funding to Administer Behavioral Health Services in Central Illinois

November 27, 2023

BLOOMINGTON, IL – Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) are announcing $1 million for the McLean County Center for Human Services to administer behavioral health services to communities in Central Illinois.

“To build stronger and more sustainable communities, we need to make sure that our families in Central and Northwestern Illinois are taken care of when they need support,” said Sorensen. “That’s why I’m proud to see the McLean County Center for Human Services secure this critical funding to help those who are struggling live happier, healthier lives.”

“The Center is grateful for this opportunity to improve access and strengthen our core services.  This funding helps us to improve processes and institute quality measures that aid us in decision making in our determination to provide the best possible care for our community,” said Joan Hartman, Chief Executive Officer of the McLean County Center for Human Services.

This award comes as part of HHS’s Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics funding and will help McLean County Center for Human Services improve clinic operations and expand access to provide better care for those with behavioral health needs in Illinois’ 17th Congressional District.

Congressman Eric Sorensen serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. Prior to serving in Congress, Sorensen was a local meteorologist in Rockford and the Quad Cities for nearly 20 years. His district includes Illinois’ Quad Cities, Rockford, Peoria, and Bloomington-Normal.
