Sorensen Announces Over $2.2 Million for Public Health in Northern Illinois

ROCKFORD, IL – Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) is joining the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to announce $2,241,352 for Rockford-based Crusader Community Health to provide high-quality health services for families in Northern Illinois.
“I will always advocate for funding that makes our communities safer and healthier for future generations,” said Sorensen. “That’s why I’m proud to join the Department of Health and Human Services to announce this critical grant that’s going to help more Northern Illinois families get connected to essential health care.”
“We are grateful for the commitment to affordable health care in northern Illinois,” said Sam Miller, President and CEO of Crusader Community Health. “Ongoing Congressional support helps us sustain our services and provide high quality primary care, dental and behavioral health care for more than 61,000 individuals annually.”
This funding was awarded toCrusader Community Health, which serves more than 61,000 patients annually in Northern Illinois. These grants were awarded as part of HHS’ Health Center Cluster program, which funds health clinics across the nation.
Congressman Eric Sorensen serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. Prior to serving in Congress, Sorensen was a local meteorologist in Rockford and the Quad Cities for nearly 20 years. His district includes Illinois’ Quad Cities, Rockford, Peoria, and Bloomington-Normal.
