Sorensen Announces Over $3.3 Million for Public Health in Northern Illinois

ROCKFORD, IL – Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) is joining the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to announce $3,362,027 for Rockford-based Crusader Community Health to provide high-quality health services to families in Northern Illinois.
“I’m excited about tax dollars coming back to make health care more affordable, more accessible, and more reliable in my hometown of Rockford,” said Sorensen. “Making sure organizations like Crusader have the support they need from Washington to meet the needs of our neighbors means we can keep communities healthy.”
“We are grateful for the commitment to affordable health care in Northern Illinois,” said Sam Miller, President and CEO of Crusader Community Health. “Ongoing Congressional support helps us sustain our services and provide high quality primary care, dental and behavioral health care for more than 62,000 individuals annually.”
This funding was awarded to Crusader Community Health, which serves more than 62,000 patients annually in Northern Illinois. The organization has provided care to underserved members of Northern Illinois communities for over 50 years.
These grants were awarded as part of HHS’ Health Center Cluster program, which funds health clinics across the nation that meet certain criteria.
Congressman Eric Sorensen serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. Prior to serving in Congress, Sorensen was a local meteorologist in Rockford and the Quad Cities for nearly 20 years. His district includes Illinois’ Quad Cities, Rockford, Peoria, and Bloomington-Normal.
