Sorensen Announces Over $8 Million for Early Childhood Education in Peoria

PEORIA, IL – Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) is announcing over $8 million for Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity (PCCEO) to administer early childhood education to families in Central Illinois.
"Making sure our kids have access to the classroom is a critical step to putting our children on the road to success,” said Sorensen. “I’m proud to see our tax dollars coming back to Peoria to support working families in Central Illinois and contribute to our region’s growth.”
“Head Start Works is a testament to the power of early childhood education, providing children with the foundational skills they need to succeed in school and in life,” said Joyce K. Banks, Interim Head Start Director, for PCCEO, Inc. “The impact is profound, breaking the cycle of poverty and paving the way for brighter futures. Head Start works!”
This grant was awarded by the Department of Health and Human Services to PCCEO to administer Head Start programming in Central Illinois. Head Start is a program within HHS that provides comprehensive early childhood education services to children from low-income families.
