Sorensen Statement on Supreme Court’s Decision to Allow More Dark Money in Campaign Advertising

June 30, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) released a statement following the Supreme Court’s decision to eliminate limits on how much national political parties can coordinate with individual candidates:

“Today’s Supreme Court decision allows more dark money and corruption to enter campaign advertising. Right now, special interest groups are spending more money than ever to influence our elections. Our votes should be earned by the people who want to represent us, not bought by dark money. Today's ruling takes us further away from that goal,” said Congressman Eric Sorensen.

Congressman Eric Sorensen represents Illinois’ 17th District in the United States House of Representatives. Prior to serving in Congress, Sorensen was a local meteorologist in Rockford and the Quad Cities for nearly 20 years. His district includes Illinois’ Quad Cities, Rockford, Peoria, and Bloomington-Normal.
