Sorensen at Martin Equipment: We Need to Invest in Workers Here in the Quad Cities (WHBF)

On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) toured Martin Equipment, a John Deere equipment supplier, in Rock Island to discuss workforce challenges in the region and highlight work to create good-paying jobs in the Illinois side of the Quad Cities area.

During the visit, Sorensen said to WHBF:

"As a member of Congress, I understand that we are swiftly going to appropriate new construction projects over the next few years. The Centennial Bridge, the I-80 Bridge—these are big projects that are going to need skilled labor. If we don't have the workforce needed in the next ten to twenty years to complete these projects, we may not get them done. What happens to the economy, what happens to our region, if we don't make that investment in people?"
