WEEK: Sorensen Secures Medals for Awards Ceremony for Yates City Vietnam Veteran

On Memorial Day, 2024, Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) presented Yates City veteran Roy Swanson with the Purple Heart and Bronze Star that Swanson rightfully earned over 50 years ago in Vietnam.

Swanson earned the awards in 1971, but was never given a formal ceremony and his record did not reflect him receiving the awards, which impaceted his benefits. After getting connected with Rep. Eric Sorensen's office, Sorensen was able to set up a formal awards ceremony for Swanson in 2024.
