On January 28, 2024, Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) appeared on WMBD to discuss his work to protect jobs at the Peoria National Guard Base. Sorensen secured language in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to protect jobs at the 182nd Airlift Wing based in Peoria, ensuring our service members and their families in Central Illinois have the tools they need to succeed.


January 24, 2024

On Wednesday, January 23, 2024, Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) hosted a roundtable with veterans and advocates in the Quad Cities area to discuss their needs and challenges, and highlight his work in Congress to support local veterans.

Last year, Sorensen introduced the Autonomy for All Disabled Veterans Act, which will increase grant awards for disabled veterans to modify their homes to fit their needs.

Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17), top-ranking Democrat on the Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, spoke before the passage of he and Congressman Brandon Williams’ DOE and NASA Interagency Research Coordination Act in the United States House of Representatives.

The members’ bipartisan bill codifies the relationship between the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Department of Energy (DOE) to advance the work of both entities.

January 11, 2024

On Thursday, January 11, 2024, Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) testified before the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure to bring attention to several of his infrastructure priorities for Illinois.

These priorities include fully funding the Navigation and Ecosystem Sustainability Program (NESP), which is a proposal to significantly upgrade infrastructure along the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers to get agriculture goods to market faster.

December 20, 2023

On December 18th, 2023, Congressman Eric Sorensen joined Heartland Health in hosting a roundtable in Peoria where he had the chance to listen to his neighbors about how they are paying too much for their prescription drugs. Sorensen shared the work he is doing in Congress to lower these costs.

December 14, 2023

In March of 2023, Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17), Ranking Member of the Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, welcomed a representative from Rockford-based Collins Aerospace to a committee hearing.

There, they talked about supporting Northern Illinois' growing aerospace industry and creating jobs in the region.

On Friday, December 8, 2023, Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) attended a ribbon cutting ceremony at Williamsfield Schools to launch a fleet of zero-emission school buses for the district and highlight his work to improve air quality for students.

During his speech, he highlighted the ways rural communities like Williamsfield are being supported by federal partnerships.
