It’s common to hear talk on Capitol Hill about the need for infrastructure related to the three Rs: roads, rails and runways.

But one critical “R” is missing: rivers.

“That fourth ‘R’ carries far more tonnage far more efficiently, and far more environmentally sound,” said Tom Heinold, chief of the Operations Division at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island District.

ROCK FALLS, Ill. — The Rock Falls Fire Department has been planning a $1.5 million training facility over the past few years. This new building will allow fire training opportunities to better prepare firefighters for emergency situations. 

Today, the department hosted a meeting and tour with Rep. Eric Sorenson to detail their proposal for the new facility.

FULTON COUNTY, Ill. (WMBD) — Congressmen Eric Sorensen (D-17) visited Fulton County Thursday evening to assess damage from the severe storms that swept through the area in mid-July.

Fulton County leaders, and Illinois Emergency Management Agency representatives sat down with the congressman to explain the damage and what problems they are facing.

PEKIN, Ill. (WMBD) — A Pekin high schooler’s painting is making a trip to the nation’s capitol after winning an art competition.

According to Rep. Eric Sorensen (D-IL), Pekin Community High School senior Rachel Fry won the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for the 17th District. The art was selected by local leaders in the district.
