ROCK FALLS, IL – Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) is joining the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to announce $1,045,348 for Whiteside County to administer public health services to communities in Western Illinois.
A federal contribution to a new STEM/Science Lab Building at Illinois State University could come with the help of U.S. Rep. Eric Sorensen.
Sorensen has requested funding for 15 projects in his district, including $15 million for the ISU building.
“We have such a special way of life here in Central and northwestern Illinois,” said Sorensen, a Democrat who represents the 17th Congressional District. “And if we want to make our region sustainable for future generations, we need to make investments now that will support our region’s growth.”
Whiteside County will receive more than $1 million to administer public health services to communities in western Illinois.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) is requesting funding for 15 local projects that will benefit Illinois families as Congress works to fund the government.
Monmouth is embarking on a 10-year, $10 million program to remove all the lead water service lines in the community.
Democratic Congressman Eric Sorensen paid a visit to the city’s water treatment plant to help jumpstart the program by presenting a ceremonial check worth nearly $960,000.
Sorensen said infrastructure repairs are needed to more than nation’s roads and bridges – work is also needed on the infrastructure that’s underground. And he said many of the workers who will replace the aging underground infrastructure are members of local communities.
The city of Rock Island has secured federal funding to install a roundabout at the 35th Street West intersection, near the Highland Springs Golf Course.
The $1.4 million dollar project, replacing traffic signals at the intersection, will kick off a larger project, eventually reducing four lanes of highway down to two lanes each way.
