WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) applauded passage of the bipartisan Water Resources Development Act of 2024 (WRDA), which includes investments he secured for clean drinking water infrastructure in Sherrard and Savanna. WRDA authorizes the Army Corps of Engineers to carry out major water infrastructure upgrades across the country.

WASHIGNTON, DC – Today, Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17), along with Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-16), introduced a bipartisan bill to rename the United States Postal Service (USPS) building located at 5225 Harrison Avenue in Rockford after letter carrier Jay Larson. Larson, who was a 25-year veteran of the USPS, was killed on March 27, 2024, in the Rockford stabbing spree while delivering mail to his neighbors.

Sorensen Helps Pass Bipartisan Bill to Expand Access to Social Security Benefits

WASHINGTON D.C. – Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) voted to pass the bipartisan Social Security Fairness Act, which expands Social Security benefits to workers, spouses, and others with eligible pensions. Sorensen is a vocal supporter of this legislation.

PEORIA, IL – Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) announced more than $860,000 to improve mental health services and fight substance abuse for his neighbors in Central Illinois.  

$759,758 will go to Chestnut Health Systems in Bloomington to enhance care and reduce burnout for peer recovery support specialists (PRSSs) who work with clients in recovery. $100,876 will go to Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) in Bloomington to develop mental health and suicide prevention strategies.
