PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill. – Federal money will help fund improvements to the water system in Peoria Heights.
17th District Congressman Eric Sorensen (D-Moline) visited the village on Monday to announce more than $959,000 to go toward replacing water distribution and raw water collection lines on Illinois Route 29 between Galena Road and Gardner Lane.

It’s common to hear talk on Capitol Hill about the need for infrastructure related to the three Rs: roads, rails and runways.
But one critical “R” is missing: rivers.
“That fourth ‘R’ carries far more tonnage far more efficiently, and far more environmentally sound,” said Tom Heinold, chief of the Operations Division at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island District.
ROCK FALLS – The U.S. House of Representatives is set to consider helping fund a training center for the Rock Falls and Sterling fire departments to the tune of $825,000 when it returns to session next month.
ROCK FALLS, Ill. — The Rock Falls Fire Department has been planning a $1.5 million training facility over the past few years. This new building will allow fire training opportunities to better prepare firefighters for emergency situations.
Today, the department hosted a meeting and tour with Rep. Eric Sorenson to detail their proposal for the new facility.
Deputy Fire Chief Kyle Sommers said it will allow emergency simulation training like search and rescue, as well as having classrooms.
MOLINE, Ill. — On Wednesday, Aug. 7, U.S Rep. Eric Sorensen (D-Rock Island) toured Project Now's Esperanza Center, a facility dedicated to providing early childhood education and support for families in the Quad Cities. The organization's Head Start Program is receiving a grant from the Department of Health and Human Services worth $1.8 million, and officials said the money will help enhance the educational programs offered at the center.
FULTON COUNTY, Ill. (WMBD) — Congressmen Eric Sorensen (D-17) visited Fulton County Thursday evening to assess damage from the severe storms that swept through the area in mid-July.
Fulton County leaders, and Illinois Emergency Management Agency representatives sat down with the congressman to explain the damage and what problems they are facing.
